Knock-out competition rules, tournament regulations, uniform requirements, equipment standards, penalties, fee structure, fine structure, and committee composition for Cape Town Table Tennis. As amended April 2026.
## 5. Knock-Out Competition
**5.1** All KO fixtures commence at **7:30pm** subject to League Time Schedule.
**5.2** KO fixture: **7-match scorecard** (6 singles + 1 doubles), each best of 5 games. Any 2 players may play doubles. Match order:
```
H1 vs V2 · H2 vs V1 · H3 vs V3 · Doubles · H1 vs V1 · H3 vs V2 · H2 vs V3
```
**5.3** A team shall consist of **3 or more players** — none may play in another KO team.
**5.4** If a 3-player team is a player short, a substitute may be used ONLY if the sub has not played in any KO team. The sub is then locked to that team for the rest of the KO.
**5.5** If no sub is available, the team may play 2 players forfeiting the absent third's matches — **R150 fine**.
**5.6** A 2-player team can win a KO fixture but cannot use either player as H3 or V3.
**5.7** Using a player who has played in another KO team: all that player's matches are forfeited — **R200 fine**.
**5.8** Captains toss for Home or Away.
**5.9** The first team to win 4 matches determines the result; the match may be terminated at that point. Complete fixture may be played at both teams' discretion.
**5.10** Both teams shall have a match ball and a net available.
**5.11** A club's designated league teams (A, B, C, etc.) remain the same for the KO. The 4th and/or 5th players of those teams may be used in subsequent rounds within those teams only.
**5.12** Matches must be played strictly in score-card sequence. No player may play all their matches in a row.
**5.13** All players are **Cup-Tied** to their registered KO team — they may never play in any other KO team.
**5.14** First-round losers in all divisions play in a **Plate Competition**.
**5.15** All score-cards to be submitted to the captain's WhatsApp group directly after the fixture.

## 6. Tournaments
**6.1** No open tournament results shall be used for grading without Executive Committee sanction.
**6.2** Seeding for all CTTT Closed tournaments shall follow the CTTT current official grading list.
**6.3** Clubs are responsible for non-payment of entry fees by their members.
**6.4** Entries must be submitted by the stipulated closing date. Late entries may be accepted at the organiser's discretion with a **Late Entry Fee**.
**6.5** Doubles partners may not be changed after the draw commences, except where a player is absent — replaced only by a player not originally drawn in the event.
**6.6** For junior, veteran and super-veteran events, competitors must be within the age limits prescribed by the SATTB.
**6.7** The Executive Committee may appoint a Management Committee of three (3) members (including the tournament organiser as convenor) to adjudicate disputes not involving the laws of table tennis. Their decision is final.
**6.8** A referee and deputy referee shall be appointed by the Executive Committee for the Cape Town Open Championships and any tournament they consider necessary. Their rulings are final.
**6.9** Clubs shall submit open tournament dates at the registration meeting. **Not more than one open club championship may be held in any one week.**
---
## 7. Colours and Uniforms
**7.1** Players shall play league matches in their **Club Colours** registered with CTTT.
**7.2** Where a club has registered more than one colour, every team member must be dressed in the same combination of registered colours.
**7.3** Players in individual competitions shall wear dress in accordance with SATTB and ITTF regulations. Advertising on uniforms must conform to SATTB and ITTF regulations.
---
## 8. Equipment
**8.1** Only **ITTF Approved balls** shall be used in league matches and open championships. CTTT will nominate the ball brand at the M&R Meeting. No other balls shall be used for any League fixture.
---
## 9. Penalties and Fines
**9.1–9.2** Should any affiliated Club or Association fail to pay its annual fee by the due date, fail to apply for financial relief in time, or fail to make satisfactory payment arrangements, the Treasurer shall give **ten (10) days' notice** to pay/apply/arrange. Failure to respond results in **automatic suspension** until outstanding liabilities are satisfied. The Secretary notifies the club in writing. No subsequent membership application will be considered until the outstanding fee is paid in full.
